Hello, world!

Hey! Welcome to CamHatesRunning!

This was a personal project of mine as I've been desperate for a platform of my own after abandoning social media due to the growing cesspool its become. While I still plan to publish a majority of my writing on the Sandstorm blog, CamHatesRunning offers a more "unfiltered" option for me to express my thoughts on all things that interest me - namely the emerging AI landscape and its impact on traditional SEO and analytics (what a dork I am).

CamHatesRunning is built via Drupal CMS, formerly Starshot. Drupal has been trending in this "site builder" direction I think to remain viable in the age of platforms like Squarespace and Wix, and I wanted to give it a shot - I'm a full Drupal advocate and if this is the future of what the platform looks like, I wanted to get my hands dirty. It was not a simple process, turns out!

This site took me about 2 weeks to complete and there were significant technical hurdles along the way. I imagine this is due to my non-developer status, but then again, I imagine this was the whole point of CMS/Starshot to begin with. As someone who has used Squarespace before, the process would have been far easier and less time consuming on that platform - but we love open-source, don't we folks? So here we are.

It was pretty neat getting things up and going via Pantheon, who is the site's host. Having my own dev, test, and prod environments made me feel like a real developer :)

Overall, I'm not entirely satisfied with the current state of the site. There are a lot of front-end changes I'd like to make, but have had some issues executing correctly. Again, I hope to use CamHatesRunning as a platform to sharpen my skills and to get deeper learning into Drupal and webdev in general.
